A NANOSECOND AWAY FROM ETERNAL TORMENT IN OUTER DARKNESS?
what will you say to God when He asks you, 'Why should I let you into my heaven?'
1. I DID A LOT OF NICE THINGS. (ie. i made up my own 'good deeds' ..for instance,
i NEVER went more than 15 mph in a school zone; i rescued an abused greyhound dog, etc.)
this people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth and honoureth Me with their lips;
but their heart is far from Me. but in vain they do worship me,
teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. matt. 15. 8-9
2. I'M A NICE PERSON; I GREW UP IN A CHRISTIAN HOME, I PRAYED A PRAYER, etc.
not every one that saith unto Me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven:
but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER
which is in heaven. matt. 7.21
3. I WAS A CHURCH MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING;
WENT TO A BIG BOX EVERY SUNDAY, etc.
and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. (DID YOU DO THAT?)
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together (DID YOU HELP THE OTHERS THERE?)
..but exhorting one another..hebrews 10.24-5 (DID YOU ACTIVELY HELP THE OTHERS
NOT TO STRAY FROM DAILY OBEDIENCE TO ME?)
4. I BELIEVED (THE) CORRECT DOCTRINE (ie. went to THE 'right' church)
be ye doers of the word and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves.
for if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer,
he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
for he beholdeth himself
and goeth his say,
and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
but whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty
and continueth therein,
he being not a forgetful hearer,
but a DOER OR THE WORK, (YOU BELIEVED CORRECTLY? WHAT DID YOU DO?
this man shall be blessed in his deed. james 1.22-5
5. I WAS INVOLVED IN ALL THE PROGRAMS OF THE BIG BOX..MORE THAN MOST!
(THAT'S ALL I HAD TIME FOR.)
..you shall be witnesses to Me..acts 1.8
..go ye therefore and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost:
teaching them to observe all things whatsoever i have commanded you.. matthew 28. 19-20
DID YOU KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR? ARE THEY IN HEAVEN?
6. I KEEP MY DISTANCE FROM SINNERS. (AND I'M PROUD TO SAY I'M NOT FRIENDLY WITH ONE OF THEM.)
I came to seek and to save those who were lost. I did not come to condemn men but to save them.
I was rightly accused of being a friend of the worst of sinners...WHY DID YOU NOT FOLLOW ME?
7. NEVER FEELING REAL COMFORTABLE WITH SHALLOW PUBLIC ADVERTISING MY RELIGION, I LET MY LIFE 'SPEAK' RATHER THAN MY WORDS.
whoever therefore shall confess Me before men,
him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
but whosoever shall deny Me before men,
him will I also deny before My father who is in heaven. matt. 10.32-3
for whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words,
of him shall the Son of man be ashamed,
when He shall come in His own glory.. luke9.26
8. I FELT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO OBEY EVERY ONE OF JESUS' WORDS, SO LONG AS I BELIEVE HIM AND PUT MY TRUST IN HIM.
he that believes on the Son has life, but he who obeys not the Son shall not see life,
but the wrath of God abides on him. john 3.36
9. ...BESIDES, THINKING ONE MUST OBEY EVERYTHING GOD SAYS IS LEGALISTIC.
if you love Me, keep My commandments. john 14.15
10. IF I NOTICED ANYONE WHO WAS HAVING A HARD TIME, I WOULD PRAY FOR THEM IF I REMEMBERED.
we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren.
he that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer
and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
hereby perceive we the love of God,
because He laid down His life for us:
and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
but whoso hath this world's good
and seeth his brother have need,
and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him,
how dwelleth the love of God in him?
my little children,
let us not love in word, neither in tongue;
but in deed and in truth.
and hereby we know that we are of the truth
and shall assure our hearts before Him. I john 3.14-9
11. I COULD DO ANYTHING FOR GOD, BUT MY FAMILY CAME FIRST.
he that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me
and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. matt. 10.37
then one said unto Him, behold , Thy mother and Thy brethren stand without,
desiring to speak to Thee.
but He answered and said unto him..
'who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
and He stretched forth His had toward His disciples and said,
'behold My mother and My brethren!
for whosoever shall DO THE WILL OF My Father which is in heaven,
the same is my brother and sister and mother. matt. 12.47-50
12. YOU BLESSED ME SO, MY LIFE WAS SO SMOOTH, I WAS CONVINCED THAT
I WAS PLEASING IN YOUR SIGHT.
strive (lit. agonize) to enter by the narrow door;
for many, I say unto , will seek to enter
and will not be able. luke 13.24
..even unto this present hour we both hunger and thirst
and are naked and are buffeted
and have no certain dwelling place;
and labour, working with our own hands:
being reviled, we bless;
being persecuted, we suffer it;
being defamed, we entreat;
we are made as the filth of the world,
and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. I corinthians 4. 10-13
He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorros and acquainted with grief
and we hid as it were our faces from Him;
He was despised and we esteemed Him not...isaiah 53. 3
..the prosperity of the wicked.
...all day long have i been plagued and chastened every morning.
...when i thought to know this, it was too painful for me.
until i went into the sanctuary of God;
then understood i their end.
surely Thou didst set them in slippery places;
Thou castedst them down into destruction.
how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment!
they are utterly consumed with terrors. psalm 73
13. I WOULD HAVE HAD NO TIME FOR MYSELF,
NO LIFE OF MY OWN!
ONE COULD EASILY SPEND 24/7 DOING WHAT JESUS SAYS
AND THAT'S FANATICISM!
he that findeth his life shall lose it
and he that loseth his life
FOR MY SAKE
shall find it. matt. 10.39
14. I WAS CONVINCED THAT MY WEALTH WAS
A SPECIAL SIGN OF GOD'S BLESSING
(AND THAT HE WANTED ME TO ENJOY IT..AND UNDERSTOOD THAT I
DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME LEFT OVER,
IN THE OBTAINING AND IN THE ENJOYING OF IT,
FOR A LOT ELSE.)
but godliness with contentment is great gain.
for we brought nothing into this world
and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
and having FOOD AND RAIMENT
let us be THEREWITH CONTENT.
BUT those who WOULD BE RICH
(note: having the least thing above bare necessities equals being rich.)
fall into temptation and a snare
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and perdition.
for the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
(note: i can tell what i love by what ACTUALLY occupies my mind, my speech, my activities and my heart.)
which whiled some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith
and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. i tim. 6.6-10
lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth..
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven..
for where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.
the light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single,
thy whole body shall be full of light.
but if thine eye be evil,
thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
if therefore the light that is in thee be darkness
how great is that darkness!
no man can serve two masters;
for either he will hate the one, and love the other
or else he will hold to the one and despise the other.
ye cannot serve God and mammon.
therefore i say unto you,
TAKE NO THOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE...matthew 6.19-25f
take heed and beware of covetousness;
for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of
the things which he possesseth
..a certain rich man brought forth plentifully
...'i will bull down my barns and build greater
..and i will say to my soul,
soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years;
take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry.
but God said unto him,
thou FOOL, this night thy soul shall be required of thee...lk. 12.15-20
and when Jesus saw that he (the rich man who turned away)was very sorrowful,
He said, 'how hardly shall they that have riches
enter into the kingdom of God!
for IT IS EASIER FOR A CAMEL TO GO THROUGH A NEEDLE'S EYE,
THAN FOR A RICH MAN TO ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD. luke 18. 24-5
15. EVERYONE HAS NEEDS. I COULDN'T BEGIN TO MEET THEM ALL.
YOU ARE NOT SO UNREASONABLE AS TO NOT KNOW I NEEDED TIME FOR MYSELF.
then shall He say also unto them on the left hand,
depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels: (not prepared for men though)
for I was an hungered and ye gave Me no meat;
I was thirsty and ye gave me no drink
I was a stranger and ye took Me not in;
naked and ye clothed me not.
then shall they also answer Him, saying
Lord, when saw we Thee an hungered or athirst or a stranger, or naked or sick or in prison
and did not minister unto Thee?
then shall He answer them, saying,
verily i say unto you,
INASMUCH AS YE DID IT NOT TO ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE,
YE DID IT NOT TO ME.
and these shall go away into everlasting punishment;
but the RIGHTEOUS into life eternal. matt. 25. 41-6
16. I ACCEPTED YOU AND REJOICED FOR A WHILE BUT I BECAME
'BACKSLIDDEN' AND BORE NO GOOD FRUIT...BUT I WAS STILL 'YOURS'.
(note: there are four types of people who hear the word of God)
...1. when any one heareth the word of the kingdom and UNDERSTANDETH it NOT,
then cometh the wicked one and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.
this is he which received seed b the way side.
2. but he that received the seed into stony places,
the same is he that heareth the word
and anon with joy receiveth it;
yet hath he not root in himself,
but DURETH FOR AWHILE
for when TRIBULATION or PERSECUTION
ariseth because of the word,
BY AND BY HE IS OFFENDED
3. he also that received seed among the thorns
is he that heareth the word;
and THE CARE OF THIS WORLD,
and THE DECEITFULNESS OF RICHES,
choke the word and he becometh unfruitful.
4. but he that received seed into the good ground
is he that HEARETH the word
and UNDERSTANDETH it;
which also BEARETH FRUIT
and BRINGETH FORTH
some an hundred..some sixty, some thirty. matt. 13. 19-23
(note:3 out of 4 who 'hear' the word go to hell..maybe less...'few there be that find it'..7.14)
