1.11.2014 PSALM 18.35 THY GENTLENESS MAKES ME GREAT

this morning reading psalm 18 i was wondering whether i could understand better what the word
'gentleness' meant and so read in Keil the following.
first, he rendered gentleness by the word 'lowliness'
then comments 'the hebrew word means the bending of one's self.
what is intended is, that condescension of God to mankind and especially to the house of david,
which was in operation, with an ultimate view to the incarnation (of Jesus Christ),
in the life of the son of jesse from the time of His anointing to His death
ie. the divine chAstotAs and philathropEa
(titus 3.4 but when the kindness of God our savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us...)
which elected the shepherd boy to be king and did not cast him off
even when he fell into sin and his infirmities became manifest.
Bless Your holy name, Lord. were it not for You i would be in hell.
